"Once a victim of the dance industry’s dark side, a twenty-year-old girl revisits the oath she took to never return. Sofia Bilic, a retired competitive dancer, navigates the emotionally confronting journey of returning to her childhood passion after hanging up her ballet shoes over a decade prior. Casting a light on the detrimental impacts of severe pressure, expectations and perfectionism in competitive sports, Sofia sifts through her younger memories of being a dancer and how it has shaped her as a person today. Intermission is a five-minute documentary short directed by Olivia Barnes and Claudia Schenck that seeks to honour one’s inner child and explore the idea of looking back in order to move forward"
